The Problem

Antoinette began in 2024 to solve a problem.

Educators had been hit by a double whammy. First, the covid pandemic accelerated the implementation of digital technology at the forefront of the classroom environment. This was part of a long-running trend in education, but many teachers were still reeling from the changes to their teaching practices when the rollout of generative ai fundamentally changed the relationship between teacher and student, especially with regard to traditional writing tasks.

A Solution

That was the problem Antoinette set out to solve. We wanted to retain what was genuinely valuable in the ‘old school’ in a world that was anything but.

By implementing some of the best practices from security sensitive industries and the tools of stylometry, we thought that teachers could continue to use much the same digital tools as they did before, while also enjoying the benefits of traditional skill-building writing exercises for their teaching practices. In fact, with Antoinette, you gain new insights into your students’ writing skills which can further support your tried-and-true teaching practices. We didn’t need to spy on students so much as we needed to give them an environment in which they could flourish.

That said, we’re a tiny startup. We’ve been piloting our platform with a number of schools and we are now rolling out to the wider world. But we’re still a small team, and we’re still building.
